Last month’s North America Hadoop Summit brought together developers, data scientists, data analysts, vendors and more to learn how to leverage Hadoop within enterprise data architectures. The summit also provided an opportunity for attendees to hear from thought leaders across a number of verticals who are leveraging Hadoop (and a myriad of other tools such as Spark, Hortonworks, etc.) to try to gain actionable insights from their big data to improve their business operations, engagement and overall bottom line.

The Day 3 keynote particularly resonated with us here at Ryft, as David Lin, the Cloud Platform Engineering, Leader & Evangelist from Symantec, detailed how his team is using data from sensors to recognize attacks and quickly provide protection. Speed is a huge factor when doing this, and David described a key measurement they are using as “mean time to process,” or the time it takes to process the data they are receiving to recognize attacks and then provide protection.

This is something Ryft has also been discussing when it comes to gaining real-time actionable insights from your data—Mean Time to Decisions (MTTD). Learn more about how the breakthrough Ryft ONE enables you to make decisions based on all of your data 100X faster, impacting your bottom line, competitive advantage and efficiency.
